<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber and a sheet-like material both mainly composed of a resol resin which can improve handling properties by improving the poor spinnability of a conventional resol resin and further improving the brittleness of a fiber produced from the resol resin. Ž<P>SOLUTION: There are disclosed: a solution comprising a blended material and a solvent, wherein the blended material comprises a resol resin having a weight average molecular weight of 3,000 to 50,000 and a polyvinylbutyral having a solution viscosity of 10 to 100 mPa s blended in the resol resin in an amount of 0.5 to 5 wt.% relative to the total weight of the blended material; a fiber comprising the blended material; a sheet-like material comprising the fiber; a method for producing the fiber; and a method for producing the sheet-like material.
