PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network apparatus which can update firmware without impairing convenience for a user and without setting up a dedicated management server outside. SOLUTION: A BD player 100 (network apparatus) includes a flash memory 12 for rewritably storing firmware 110, and a CPU 11 for acquiring update firmware 210 from a server 200 via the Internet 300 to update the firmware 110 stored in the flash memory 12. The CPU 11 is configured, upon receiving a power off request, to communicate with the server 200, and to update the firmware 110 if the version of the update firmware 210 is newer than the version of the firmware 110 stored in the flash memory 12.
