PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a heat spreader with a small number of processes and with good productivity without using a special press die or the like, the heat spreader in which a connection surface to a cooling member is formed in a projecting curved surface, and the curved shape and projecting amount of the curved surface are not dispersed. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the heat spreader includes the steps of: sandwiching a flat heat spreader 1 formed of an aluminum-containing composite material 2' between a flat first metal plate 12 having Rockwell hardness of 50 HRC or less and a flat second metal plate 13 large in Rockwell hardness relative to that of the first metal plate; heating the laminate of three of them; and subjecting the heated laminate to press forming in the lamination direction in a press die 14 to make a surface of the heat spreader 1 on the side with the first metal plate 12 laminated thereon into a curved surface 21 protrusively projecting toward the center from the periphery of the surface.
