PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector capable of easily and exactly performing positioning of a plug, with respect to a connector housing, while easily recognizing completion of the positioning of the plug, is compact and, moreover, has high durability, and has a simple structure and whose manufacturing cost is low, and which can facilitate operation thereof. SOLUTION: The connector housing has an abutting section which is engaged with the front part of the plug, a lock member is provided with a detection part which is partially located on the abutting part, when the lock member is at an opening position, when the front part is engaged with the abutting part, at least a part of the plug abuts against the detection part and the lock member starts an attitude change from the opening position.
