PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a base material for a gasket, the gasket produced by using the base material for the gasket, and a method for using the gasket. SOLUTION: The base material for the gasket is produced by using a foam raw material containing≥20 mass% of at least one of a polybutadiene polyol and a polyisoprene polyol based on 100 mass% of the total amount of the polyol and free from water and a foaming agent, mixing the foam raw material with a gas, stirring the mixture, supplying the produced gas-liquid mixture on a carrier film, and heating from above and under to form a polyurethane foam layer on the carrier film. The base material for the gasket is punched to prepare the gasket 1 comprising the polyurethane foam layer (foam sheet) having skin layers at both faces, and having a density of 150-500 kg/m<SP>3</SP>and a 25% compression hardness of≤0.1 MPa.
