<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device for aiming at both of downsizing and enhancing reliability, and an electronic equipment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the organic electroluminescent device 1, a translucent sealing member 7 includes a first plate part 71 covering a first face 11a side of an element substrate 11, a second plate part 72 covering a second face 11b side of the element substrate 11, and side plate parts 76, 77, 78 formed integrally. Thus, since the periphery of the element substrate 11 other than a side where the opening 70 is formed is sealed by the side plate parts 76, 77, 78 of the sealing member 7, the sealed parts are made thinner, as well as a secured sealing is obtained. Further, the seal member 8 includes only one part where the opening 70 is formed in the sealing member 7, the width dimension of the portion where the seal member 8 occupies is narrow at the periphery of the element substrate 11 even when it is formed in wide width so as to prevent invasion of moisture and oxygen.
