<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy substrate for a recording medium, which has high recording density and excellent strength even when the substrate has a thin thickness and is hardly affected by vibration from an external part, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy substrate for the recording medium is formed by subjecting a molded product obtained by injection-molding a magnesium alloy to a blast surface treatment.
