<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve print quality at the time of making a print on a half-hollow body more. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A printing object is a cover body 120 whose top arm 122 and bottom arm 124 face each other through gap. A printer includes a printing tray 14 which functions as a holding means for holding the printing object and a printing unit which makes a picture printing on the printing surface of the printing object by a thermal transfer method while moving relatively to the printing tray 14. The printing tray 14 includes a horizontal hole which is a hole formed on the side of the printing tray and keeps part of the printing object (cover body 120) inserted in the state that the printing surface is exposed outside, a recess 68 which holds the printed portion of the printing object where the part is completely inserted in the horizontal hole, and a stopper 80 which prevents the printing object from rising by contacting the side of the printing direction upstream of the printing object when the part is completely inserted in the horizontal hole 68.
