<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical portal apparatus which includes a system for managing sutures during surgical procedures. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The surgical portal apparatus for use in the surgical procedures incorporating at least one suture includes a portal housing defining a longitudinal axis, having a longitudinal opening therethrough and for receiving a surgical object, and a sleeve extending from the portal housing and including one or more channels formed along the length of the sleeve.
