PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IPS (in-plane switching) liquid crystal display device for further improving an aperture ratio. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate SUB1 and a second substrate SUB2. On the first substrate, layers of a capacitance signal line CL, a first insulating film GI, a capacitance electrode CPT, a second insulating film PAS, and a pixel electrode PX and a counter electrode CT are formed, wherein the pixel electrode includes a plurality of parallel linear electrodes PX1 and a common connection portion PXc connecting each one end of the linear electrodes PX1 in common, and the counter electrode CT includes a plurality of parallel linear electrodes CT1 each disposed on both sides of the linear electrode PX1. On the second substrate SUB2, a first light-shielding film BM1 is formed to cover a first gate signal line GL (GL1), the capacitance signal line CL, the capacitance electrode CPT, and the common connection portion PXc of the pixel electrode PX. In a plan view, each side of the common connection portion PXc, the capacitance electrode CPT and the first light-shielding film BM1, in the side close to the center of the pixel region, is formed as further extended toward the center of the pixel region, in the above order of the elements, than the side, close to the center of the pixel region, of the capacitance signal line CL.
