PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat ray highly reflecting coated article having a coating film formed of an aqueous coating composition, the coating film reflecting heat rays by high reflectance, being excellent in contamination resistance and maintaining a heat ray reflecting performance over a long period of time, and to provide a method of coating the heat ray highly reflecting coated article. SOLUTION: The heat ray highly reflecting coated article has a coating film layer (X) and a coating film layer (Y) formed on the coating film layer (X), the coating film layer (X) is the layer formed of a coating composition containing: a compound metal oxide including an oxide which is either an oxide of Bi or an oxide of Y and an oxide of Mn; and a resin (x), and the coating film layer (Y) is the layer formed of a coating composition containing a specified non-fluorine polymer and a resin (y).
