<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image forming apparatus, an image processing method, an image processing program, and a medium for recording the image processing program which can discriminate with high precision a solid color image irrespective of a monochrome and a color. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A histogram forming portion 104 determines the maximum value of an average value between each color component and the maximum difference of the average value by a pixel given with attention on the basis of an average value by a color component calculated by an averaging portion 101, and forms each histogram in which the number of pixels with regard to each density division of the maximum value and the maximum difference is made to be a frequency value. A discriminating portion 106 determines the number of divisions of the density division which becomes a prescribed frequency or higher in the maximum histogram and the maximum difference histogram formed of the histogram forming portion 104, and decides to be a solid image when these numbers of density divisions are both below a division threshold value.
