<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the height of a crankcase and miniaturize an engine by arranging a communication channel at an appropriate position in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine including an upper part crankcase provided above a cylinder block as one unit or a separate unit, a lower part crankcase connected to a lower part of the upper part crankcase, and the communication channel providing communication among inner spaces of a plurality of crank chambers corresponding to a plurality of cylinders. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This multi-cylinder internal combustion engine includes a communication hole communicating to the communication channel on at least one side of the upper part crankcase and the lower part crankcase, and has a cover member constructing the communication channel arranged to cover the communication hole and attached to both of the upper part crankcase and the lower part crankcase over a joining surface thereof.
