REFOLDING COMPOSITION OF PROTEIN

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refolding composition effective for improving a refolding yield by a synergistic effect comprising increase of effective concentration of arginine in a solution and suppression of protein aggregation, and a refolding method of a modified protein to use the refolding composition. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A protein modified with a protein solubilizing agent is refolded by diluting the modified protein with a refolding composition containing arginines and a chaotrope such as iodide and thiocyanate and a refolding buffer solution and leaving the diluted product at rest at ≤60°C. Examples of the refolding composition are a mixture of 0.88-2.20 M of arginine hydrochloride and 0.77-2.65 M of ammonium iodide and a mixture of 0.95-1.89 M of arginine hydrochloride and 0.69-2.65 M of ammonium thiocyanate.
