<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-like medium conveying device capable of accurately detecting double-feed even if multiple types of sheet-like media are mixedly loaded on a tray, and an image reading device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This sheet-like medium conveying device includes a conveying means for conveying, one by one, the sheet-like media mixedly loaded on the tray, a measuring means (S310) for measuring the measurement items for which the measured results are different between the sheet-like media which are double-fed and not double-fed by the conveying means, a double-feed detection means (S310) for detecting a double-feed by comparing the results of detection measured by the measuring means and the reference values, a determination means (S315) for determining the changeover of the type of the sheet-like medium in conveyance, and a reference value changing means (S309) for changing the reference value according to a type to which the type is changed when the changeover of the type is determined by the determination means.
