<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select and demodulate a sideband where no interference occurs by detecting levels of both sidebands without removing a carrier component included in an IF signal of a radio receiver. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the radio receiver 1 which detects the IF signal from a front end 3 by a synchronous detector 5 after digital conversion to generate a USB and an LSB, the radio receiver 1 is constituted so that, level detection units 6L and 6U detect levels of the USB and LSB to determine whether the state of interference with an adjacent disturbing station occurs to the USB and LSB, a logic generation unit 7 generates a logic for selecting a sideband where no interference occurs when the level detection units 6L and 6U determine that interference occurs at one of the USB and LSB, and a signal selection unit 8 selects one of the synchronously detected USB and LSB with a signal from the logic generation unit 7.
