PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify the azimuth of disturbance light by making distinction between light accompanied by light projection and reception and disturbance light and by determining received light as the disturbance light. SOLUTION: When the operation of an optical scan type photoelectric switch (1) is regularly monitored by a personal computer (PC), the numerous disturbance light is seen in a hatched area spreading into a fan shape upward from a symbol (S) of the switch (1), and the disturbance light is displayed with straight lines extending radially from the symbol (S). A distance is measured from a time difference t between light projection timing and light reception timing and the azimuth is detected from the optical axis number of received light.
