PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus for shortening an imaging time. SOLUTION: Longitudinal magnetization in the tissue of a region including a head and a neck is inverted by a selection inversion pulse SIR, and then, a fat suppression pulse STIR is transmitted after waiting for a wait time W1. Then, after waiting for a wait time W2, a signal collection sequence DAQ is performed. After performing the signal collection sequence DAQ and also before performing a succeeding pulse sequence PS, the horizontal magnetization of a cerebral fluid is flipped to be the longitudinal magnetization by a -90°x-pulse and a 180°pulse.
