PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens system including a compact focusing lens group and having a small image magnification change, when moving the focusing lens group. SOLUTION: The zoom lens system includes an aperture diaphragm A; a first lens group G1 with negative power, which is disposed closest to an object; a third lens group G3 adjacent to the object side of the aperture diaphragm A; and a fourth lens group G4 adjacent to the image side of the aperture diaphragm A. In zooming, the aperture diaphragm A, a third lens group G3 adjacent to the object side of the aperture diaphragm A, a fourth lens group G4 adjacent to the image side of the aperture diaphragm A are moved along an optical axis, and an interval between the aperture diaphragm A and the third lens group G3 adjacent to the object side of the aperture diaphragm A and an interval between the aperture diaphragm A and the fourth lens group G4 adjacent to the image side of the aperture diaphragm A change.
