SOLUTION: The method of production of moisture absorbing/releasing paper includes a step of providing a paper substrate by papermaking from an aqueous slurry, which aqueous slurry contains at least pulp fiber and an inorganic porous material having characteristics: 1-10 nm average pore radius, 80 m2/g or more of specific surface area, and 5-80 μm average particle diameter, and contains 5-65 mass% in terms of solid content of the inorganic porous material, and a step of coating or impregnating the paper substrate with a salt solution containing at least one salt compound selected from the group consisting of lithium chloride, sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, and calcium chloride.
