PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric oscillation device which reduces variations of an equivalent series capacitance value and has a good frequency variation amount. SOLUTION: A crystal oscillator includes an AT-cut crystal oscillation plate 2 in which a long-side direction is set as an X axis, a short-side direction is set as a Z' axis, and a thickness direction is set as a Y axis, with both ends of one short side being open-side bonded to the inside of a base 1 by means of an adhesive material 3. A side 200 of one short side is rougher than a side 201 of the other short side. The crystal oscillation plate 2 is open-side held by the side 200 of the short side through the adhesive material, thereby the variations of the equivalent series capacitance value (C1) can be reduced and a good equivalent series capacitance value can be obtained.
