PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing wall structure improving fireproof performance while giving sufficient wall proof stress to a partition wall using a seismic response control proof stress planar member in a building with a ceiling inner part interposed between an upper floor section and a lower floor section. SOLUTION: The bearing wall structure 10 adopted in the building 45 with the ceiling inner part 42 interposed between the upper floor section 40 and the lower floor section 41, is formed at the partition wall 44 of the lower floor section 41. The bearing wall structure 10 is constituted by installing the seismic response control proof stress planar member 14 inside a wall frame body 49 composed of a vertical pair of horizontal members 12b, 12c including a fire stop horizontal member 12b arranged in proximity to the mounting surface of a ceiling backing material 48, and a lateral pair of column members 11a, 11b; and mounting a proof stress planar member 51 to cover, from both sides, an inner part frame body 50 composed of the lateral pair of column members 11a, 11b at the ceiling inner part 42, the fire stop horizontal member 12b and a floor beam 12a.
