摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device for stably reading data, while suppressing fluctuations in the read output. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A storage medium 14 defines a magnetic track 64, which extends in a circumferential direction while it is mutually separated by a non-magnetic body 65. Since a carriage 16 oscillates about a spindle 18, a read element 45 at a tip of the carriage 16 changes a skew angle θ, with respect to a radial direction position of the storage medium 14. According to the skew angle θ increase, a track width TW of the magnetic track 64 is reduced. The track width TW of the magnetic track 64 is set smaller than the effective read width RW. Thus, despite, for instance, a positioning error or influences due to the vibration of the read element 45, fluctuation in the read output is suppressed.
