<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speaker array apparatus, a signal processing method, and a program that can obtain excellent surround effects even when directions of a sound image that a listener is made to perceive are limited because of the shape of a room. <P>SOLUTION: The speaker array apparatus 1 imparts predetermined frequency characteristics generated based upon head transfer characteristics to an audio signal of a channel whose directivity direction to be set can not be determined. Then the resulting audio signal is output as a beam of sound of a different channel with the same directivity to change a sound image localization position given the predetermined frequency characteristics to a direction different from the arrival direction of the beam of the sound. Consequently, even when the path of the beam of the sound is limited because of the shape of the room 100 and a listening position, etc., the sound image localization position is changed to localize the sound image before and behind the listener 200, thereby obtaining excellent surround effects. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
