PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brazing filler metal of a brazing sheet made of an aluminum alloy which allows a brazing filler metal-clad face to maintain high corrosion resistance after brazing treatment and further has satisfactory brazability, and to provide a method for designing the brazing filler metal. SOLUTION: The brazing filler metal of a brazing filler metal 10A made of an aluminum alloy is provided on at least either side 12a (12b) of a core material 11 made of aluminum alloy at least containing 0.2 to 1.0 mass% of Cu, and configures the brazing sheet made of aluminum alloy. In the brazing filler metal, liquid phase ratio X(%) in brazing temperature and the thickness Y (μm) of the brazing filler metal satisfy the relationship of (1) 30≤X≤80, (2) Y≥25 and (3) 1,000≤X×Y≤24,000, and the brazing filler metal is made of aluminum alloy containing 2.0 to 8.0 mass% Si and 1.0 to 6.0 mass% Zn.
