PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine inhibiting increase of torque fluctuation all the more because of the control for torque fluctuation reduction while reducing torque fluctuation caused by exhaust gas recirculation. SOLUTION: The control device for the internal combustion engine 10 includes a variable valve train 90 varying open close timing of an intake valve 22, and an exhaust gas recirculation device 80 recirculating exhaust gas in an exhaust passage 61 to an intake passage 41. Valve open timing of the intake valve 22 is advanced in a range where an valve overlap period does not exceeds a prescribed value when exhaust gas recirculation quantity is greater than a reference quantity.
