PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve smooth and accurate endoscopy by reducing a burden on a physician in detecting a lesion. SOLUTION: A light source 50 for normal illumination light and a light source 51 for special illumination light irradiate normal illumination light and special illumination light alternately in accumulation period units of a solid imaging element 23. A lesion candidate detecting circuit 73 analyzes a special photographed image Pb by the special illumination light and detects a lesion candidate. An image composition processing circuit 74 forms a composite image Pd from the special photographed image Pb and a mark image Pc having a mark 80 indicating the lesion candidate detected by the lesion candidate detecting circuit 73. A display control circuit 45 makes a parallel display of a normal photographed image Pa by the normal illumination light and the composite image Pd on a monitor 18.
