<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten dimension in the axial direction of a friction engaging device such as a hydraulic clutch and a hydraulic brake. <P>SOLUTION: This friction engaging device is constituted by overlapping a plurality of brake discs 19 fitted into a first spline tooth 17c formed in the axial direction of a carrier member 17 and a plurality of brake plates 20 fitted into a second spline tooth 11a formed in the axial direction in a casing 11 alternately and letting the brake discs 19 and the brake plates 20 abut on each other by biasing force generated by a brake piston 23. For example, in the hydraulic brake B, since an outer peripheral face of a seal ring 30 fitted into an annular groove 17e formed in an protruding part 17b of the carrier member 17 and protruding on a casing 11 side is abutted on an inner peripheral face of the brake plate 20 serving also as an end plate, the axial dimension of the hydraulic brake B can be shortened by thickness of one brake plate 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
