摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing circuit capable of adjusting a transmitting spectrum waveform, and to provide a method of adjusting it. SOLUTION: The optical wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing circuit equipped with an array waveguide grating (AWG) includes an optical splitter, two arm waveguides, an optical mode synthesizing coupler, and a taper waveguide. The optical mode synthesizing coupler makes a base mode light inputted from one arm waveguide couple with a primary mode and makes a base mode light inputted from the other arm waveguide couple with the base mode. The taper waveguide is configured to excite a secondary mode light. In such optical wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing circuit, the effective refractive index of at least one of the two arm waveguides is varied, so that the phase difference of the primary mode light for the base and the secondary mode light at the opening end of the taper waveguide is varied, thereby the transmitting spectrum waveform can be adjusted.
