<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic appliance for retreating a magnetic head by using an accelerator. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electronic appliance driven by power supplied from an AC adapter or a secondary battery includes: a body; an acceleration sensor for detecting acceleration applied to the body; a disk device which is incorporated in the body and stores data; a disk protecting means for detecting vibration of the body on the basis of the acceleration detected by the acceleration sensor and a level of sensitivity set, and executing processing to protect the disk device; and a setting means for setting the level of sensitivity at many stages.
