<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material having sufficient infrared reflection ability, excellent in thermal stability and heat resistance, free of problems concerning safety and environment. <P>SOLUTION: This infrared reflective material is a composite oxide comprising elemental alkaline earth metal, manganese, and aluminum, and/or gallium, wherein a molar ratio of manganese element (Mn) and an element (Al) of aluminum and/or gallium is 0.0005≤Al/Mn≤0.50. This infrared reflective material is produced by mixing a manganese compound with a specified amount of an aluminum and/or gallium compound, and an alkaline earth metal compound, and firing the mixture. The resulting composite oxide is powdery and compounded into a coating material or resin composition to be utilized, for example, for reduction of heat-island phenomena by applying onto roofs and outside walls of buildings, and onto roads and pathways. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
