<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the heat value per unit time of a lockup clutch in slip control of the lockup clutch. <P>SOLUTION: In the control device, in slip control of the lockup clutch 28 by hydraulic control performed by a lockup clutch control means 86, an electric motor M is driven in a direction of reducing the slip quantity NSLP of the lockup clutch 28 by an electric motor control means 92 in addition to the slip control by hydraulic control. Therefore, the heat value Q<SB>CL</SB>per unit time of the lockup clutch 28 in the slip control can be reduced by the workload of the electric motor M, for example, compared with a case in which the electric motor M is not driven.
