<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contribute to reduction in buffer underflow due to alternating processing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When a reading means 3 is moved and data of the prescribed quantity read from a recording medium 12 is stored in a buffer 10, the movement of the reading means 3 is stopped by a movement stop means P1, while the data stored in the buffer 10 is output by an output means 9. Defective region of the recording region is specified by a defective region specifying means P3, based on the alternation information obtained from the recording medium 12 by an alternation information obtaining means P2. When the reading means 3 is moved to a specified defective region during reduction of data stored in the buffer 10, movement start timing of the reading means 3, at which data quantity stored in the buffer 10 becomes substantially a prescribed quantity, is detected by a movement start timing detecting means P4.
