<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door opening and closing system for a pet enabling only a one's own pet to make a free access thereto and capable of preventing the one's own pet from wandering thereabout at night. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This door opening and closing system for a pet includes an access door allowing a pet to make an access thereto, a microchip which is attached to the pet and transmits the ID information, a reader section which is installed on the outdoor side of the access door and receives the ID information of the microchip when the pet enters from the outdoor side to the indoor side, an entry electric lock for locking the access door when the ID information read by the reader section is specific ID information, an exit electric lock for unlocking the access door in such a manner that the pet can make an exit from the indoor side to the outdoor side within a predetermined set time period, and an electric lock control section for controllably locking and unlocking the entry electric lock and the exit electric lock.
