<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trash can with a compressing function capable of automatically exhibiting a compressing function everytime throwing trash thereinto without using power and nor touching the trash can with a hand. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The trash can with the trash compressing function includes: a compressor 30 provided inside a body 20 freely to reciprocate toward part of the inner surface of a front wall 21f lower than a trash throw-in opening 23; energizing means 23 and 60 provided to energize the compressor 30 for reciprocation; a pedal 40 provided in a pedestal 10; and return mechanisms 50 and 60 provided to return the compressor 30, resisting the energizing force by the energizing means, by mechanically transmitting a stepping-down force applied to the pedal 40 to the compressor 30.
