<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary power device having a simple structure, having high safety and reliability, and easily installable in a bicycle available on the market. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This auxiliary power device for the bicycle has at least an auxiliary power storage means, an auxiliary power releasing means, and a mode switching means capable of switching at any time the auxiliary power storage means, the auxiliary power releasing means and a neutral state of holding auxiliary power. The auxiliary power device is characterized by being connectably constituted of a driving wheel of the bicycle or a crankshaft and a single torque transmitting means.
