PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a hydrocarbon fuel, efficiently manufacturing the hydrocarbon fuel from byproduct gas produced in an iron mill, provided that the hydrocarbon fuel can be stored in a liquefied state. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the hydrocarbon fuel comprises the steps of: boosting pressure of the byproduct gas, which serves as a raw material gas, by a compressor 3 to prescribed pressure; feeding the pressure-boosted byproduct gas to a catalytic reactor 4 so as to synthesize the hydrocarbon fuel from hydrogen and carbon monoxide contained in the byproduct gas; subsequently cooling an off-gas discharged from the catalytic reactor 4 to a liquefaction temperature of the hydrocarbon fuel; and separating the cooled off-gas into a liquid component and a gas component by a gas-liquid separator 6. Here, an unreacted fuel component contained in the gas component separated from the liquid component by the gas-liquid separator 6 is separated from a non-fuel component by a membrane separation method or a physical adsorption method so as to recover the unreacted fuel component, which is reused as the raw material gas.
