<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of erasing an afterimage when the power supply is turned off, while suppressing a complicated structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 100 is provided with: an auxiliary power supply circuit 6 holding the power for a prescribed time when a power supply V<SB>DD</SB>is turned off; and a signal generation circuit 7 connected to the power supply V<SB>DD</SB>and driven by the auxiliary power supply circuit 6 when the power supply V<SB>DD</SB>is turned off, and generating a signal to control a pixel selection transistor 12 to be turned on, on the basis of the voltage drop of the power supply V<SB>DD</SB>. When the power supply V<SB>DD</SB>is turned off, potentials of pixel electrodes 13 included in a plurality of pixels 11, respectively, are controlled to be approximately equipotential.
