The method involves detecting a mass flow value of medium flowing through a mass discharge pipe of a measuring transducer, and detecting variations of the mass flow value and/or resonance frequencies of the mass discharge pipe for reliability testing of the mass flow value. The reliability testing indicates that the detected mass flow value is not reliable when the variations of the detected mass flow value lies below a preset threshold value and/or when the variations of the detected resonance frequencies lies above another preset threshold value.
