PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium conveying device capable of properly conveying recording media without being affected by the adhesive force of the surface of a cleaning roller. SOLUTION: This printer device includes a substantially linear conveying path P1 in which a card C is conveyed, roller 41 provided on the transport path P1 to transport the card C, a roller 41 which is installed in the conveying path P1 and conveys the card C, a roller 42 which is installed in the conveying path P1 apart from the roller 41 and conveys the card C to the opposite side of the roller 41, the cleaning roller 31 which is disposed in the conveying path P1 so as to face the roller 41 and provided with an adhesive part for cleaning the surface of the card C, and a control unit 95 for controlling the rotational speed of the roller 31 at a rotational speed V1 and a rotational speed V2 slower than the rotational speed V1. The control unit 95 controls the rotational speed of the roller 31 from the rotational speed V1 to the rotational speed V2 before the front end of the card C is moved from the roller 31 to the roller 41.
