PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air feed type sheet feeder in which the tab of a lower side sheet tends to be sucked and double-fed during the suction and conveyance of sheet when a sheet having a tab part is loaded in such a manner that the tab part is positioned on the downstream side and discharged. SOLUTION: When the sheet having the tab part is loaded in a storage chamber 11 in such a manner that the tab part is positioned on the downstream side in the sheet feeding direction and fed, a suction shutter 37 is opened with a feed signal and a sheet sucking operation is started. Immediately after the completion of the sucking operation is detected by a suction completion detection sensor 19 is detected, a sucking and conveying belt 21 is rotated to start the conveyance of the sheet. When a normal sheet is fed, the suction shutter 37 is opened beforehand, the sheet is sucked by the sucking and conveying belt 21, and the sucking and conveying belt 21 is rotated with the feed signal to start the conveyance of the sheet.
