A method is disclosed for producing nanocomposites from nanoparticles of metallic and non-metallic oxides obtained by a sol-gel process in a hydrophilic polymer matrix. The method includes the following steps: a colloidal suspension of nanoparticles of said oxides is formed and said nanoparticles are dispersed in a continuous organic phase, generally a hydrophilic polymer of high surface energy, with optional stirring and heating, so as to form a nanocomposite in which the polymer forms a shell around the oxide. The nanocomposite product is recovered as a powder by spray-drying, and is used as such or included in a proportion of 1 to 95% by volume in a polymer matrix of any type, such as a matrix of low surface energy. |
