PURPOSE: A digital optical repeater and a data transmitting method thereof are provided to apply a data compression algorithm to a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) chip, thereby transmitting data. CONSTITUTION: A main hub unit(100) receives data from a base station. A remote optical unit(200) transmits the data to the terminal through optical communication with the main hub unit. The main hub unit and the remote optical unit comprise DSPs(130,230). The DSP compresses and transmits the data transmitted from the base station or the terminal from a fixed point type to a floating point type.
