PURPOSE: A method for controlling a restriction device for side passengers is provided to improve reliability and to prevent malfunction by physically reflecting deformation of a vehicle to optimized operation time. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a restriction device for side passengers is as follows. A first average acceleration and a first speed are calculated using a first side collision sensor(102). A first critical value of the first side collision sensor is calculated using a center collision sensor. A second critical value of the first side collision sensor is calculated based on the speed of the center collision sensor. The first average acceleration is compared with the first critical value. The first speed is compared with the second critical value.
