The apparatus has an inverter unit (4) installed in close proximity to a rotary electric machine (2). The unit converts direct-current (DC) power from a battery into alternating-current (AC) for supplying to the machine during start of an engine. The unit converts AC power generated in the machine into DC power and charges the battery. AC and DC wirings electrically connect the machine and battery respectively to the unit. |
