The method involves providing a triangulation sensor (9) with a transmitter for a measuring beam and a receiver for a reflected beam, where the measuring beam and a direction of the reflected beam define a measuring plane. Workpieces e.g. camshaft (1) and cam (3), and the sensor are relatively moved together such that a preferred direction of cracks of the workpieces lies at a point of a surface to be tested in the plane, where the point meets the measuring beam. The cracks in a surface are detected with presence of a fluctuation pattern in an output signal of the receiver. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing quality of a surface of a workpiece, comprising a sensor. |
