PURPOSE: A solid oxide electrolyte and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to enlarge the electrolyte rage inside a fuel cell, by decreasing the electron conductivity of a ceria base electrolyte. CONSTITUTION: A solid oxide electrolyte using a cerium ion contains a metal ion with the higher reduction force than the cerium ion to decrease the concentration of electrons capable of moving inside the electrolyte. A manufacturing method of the solid oxide electrolyte comprises the following steps: forming an electrolyte layer using the cerium ion; and adding the metal ion to the layer.
