COMPOSITIONS FOR THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF OBESITY COMPRISING WIDDROL

PURPOSE: A composition containing widdrol or pharmaceutically acceptable salt for preventing or treating obesity is provided to suppress differentiation of adipose precursor cells to adipocytes. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating obesity contains 0.1-50 weight% of widdrol of chemical formula 1 or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The widdrol is derived from Juniperus chinensis. A food composition for preventing obesity contains widdrol and pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. A method for isolating widdrol comprises; a step of pulverizing plant and extracting with low alcohol solvent; and a step of suspending in distilled water and extracting with non-polar organic solvent.
