PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To elevate a Rth retardation value of a lower fatty acid ester of cellulose.

SOLUTION: A compound having at least two aromatic rings and having a molecular structure not to stereo-hinder the stereo conformation of two aromatic rings is used as a retardation rising agent for a lower fatty acid ester of cellulose.
