PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting method and an apparatus which have reduced entanglement of air, an oxide film or the like and can produce a higher quality product at a lower cost compared with the conventional die casting method or a low pressure casting method. SOLUTION: In the device where at least one kind of starting material selected from a molten metal, a semi-solidified ingot and a semi-melted ingot is pushed up and is introduced into a mold at the upper part so as to produce a cast body, the device includes: (1) the mold whose bottom is provided with a pouring port; (2) an introducing means for introducing the starting material into the mold; and (3) a cut-off member capable of opening and closing between the pouring port and the introducing means. The cut-off member includes: (a) a by-product capture void formed at the side in contact with the pouring port; and (b) an opening part for introducing the starting material after capture of by-products into the void part of the mold.
